The holidays are magical… but they can also be a lot for little nervous systems. ✨ Late nights, sugary treats, busy schedules, and big emotions often come as a package deal... especially for neurodivergent kids who rely on predictability to feel safe and regulated. As both a psychologist and a mum of three, I see this every year: when sleep, nutrition, and routine get wobbly, emotional regulation does too. It’s not “bad behaviour...” it’s biology. So this Christmas, instead of chasing the picture-perfect holiday, try focusing on the basics that help your child stay grounded: ✔️ predictable meals and nourishing snacks ✔️ small pockets of downtime ✔️ gentle rhythms and realistic expectations ✔️ saying no to things that don’t serve your family You don’t have to do everything to make the season magical, just the things that matter most. ❤️🎄
